The original equipment from Kohler lasted a good 5 years. Then I noticed a slight squeak which progressively got worse over the course of about 6 months. The toilet flushes fine it just makes a ton of noise as it does so.
What I determined is that the very top (which is green and has the lever that actuates the vavle) can be removed by twisting it counter clockwise -- make sure the water to the tank is off first!
I'm purchasing this part in hopes that I can just replace the top part which would be very quick and easy because it won't require me to drain the entire toilet just to replace it.
I checked the Kohler website and you can not buy just the green part.
I'll update this when I get the part and let you know if I'm successful. |
